Driving Change Using Business Intelligence

The Obama Administration is still actively engaged in redefining healthcare in the U.S.  During this period of change, radiologists are seeking out a more prominent seat at the table as contributors in defining and directing patient care and ultimately, in improving patient health outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs.

However, facing declining reimbursements, constrictive decision support models and utilization management increasingly driven by payors, radiologists struggle to maintain successful practices as they are continually asked to do more with less. To combat the financial pressures on practices, radiologists and practice managers are using business intelligence and predictive analytics to enhance practice management and provide better visibility of and planning for their resources. Analyzing data points from disparate systems such as financial reporting and scheduling, for example, radiologists and practice managers can create and track custom productivity metrics, measure and, more importantly, quantifiably demonstrate the value they bring to their customers.

Sharing best practices on driving more efficient practice management, new models for care delivery and data sharing, radiologists can find new ways to thrive in an increasingly complex environment.  I am looking forward to sharing more case studies and reports of successes with the ImagingBiz audience as we move into the fall season of healthcare conferences.
