FDA clears Siemens Healthineers' new CT platform
The SOMATOM go. CT platform designed for high diverse sets of user needs from Siemens Healthineers has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, helping healthcare providers worldwide meet current challenges and thrive in their work environments.
The tablet-based workflow allows staff to remain with patients during scan preparation. The platform also includes the SOMATOM go.Now and SOMATOM go.Up CT scanners, which provide users an automated, standardized workflow. The 32-slice SOMATOM go.Now CT scanner aims to benefit radiology providers who want to leverage a low-cost but clinically robust CT solution. The 64-slice SOMATOM go.Up CT scanner provides tin filtration, specifically important for lung imaging, while using lower radiation doses.
Rather than staff going to two to three different rooms—scanner, control unit and other additional technology—the systems can be installed in one room with a minimum size requirement. This reduces installation costs, while providing a shielded niche that to protect radiology staff.
