Patients at Fairmont Regional Medical Center in Fairmont, W.Va., are currently experiencing the benefits of more than $5 million in improvements, including a new MRI scanner and two radiology suites with updated equipment.
As reported by the Fairmont News, the “failing” hospital declared bankruptcy in 2013. Significant changes began when it was purchased by Alecto Healthcare in September 2014.
Jaime Naternicola, Fairmont Regional Medical Center’s director of radiology, said both patients and specialists love the new imaging equipment.
“We’ve gotten lots of feedback from the radiologists,” Naternicola said, as quoted by the Fairmont News. “They enjoy the images. The radiologist told me that if he needed one, he would come here. We’ve had a lot of referrals.”
The hospital has made other big upgrades as well, including new telemetry equipment, new signage, required roof repairs, and more.
