Report: Lexmark now considering divestiture after lack of interest from buyers
Printing services and software developer Lexmark International Inc. is exploring the possibility of divesting its assets and selling its software and hardware business separately, according to an article published online by Reuters.
Citing an anonymous source close to the situation, the report claims a lack of interest from potential buyers in line with Lexmark’s valuation expectations has led to ongoing divestiture discussions for the Lexington, Ky.-based company, which announced last October it was exploring strategic alternatives, including a sale, to “enhance shareholder value.”
Lexmark recently completed a spate of healthcare IT acquisitions and underwent a rebranding of its Lexmark Healthcare division in April 2015.
The company is said to be in talks with private equity firms interested in buying its remaining software and hardware assets, though no decisions as to how to proceed with the sale process have been made.
A spokesman for Lexmark declined to comment on the Reuters report.
