Siemens Healthineers inks $87M value partnership with Vanderbilt

Siemens Healthineers has inked an $87 million value partnership with Vanderbilt Health, the two companies announced Monday. 

The pact will span multiple years, focusing on driving technology upgrades and standardizing imaging and radiation oncology equipment across the noted Nashville, Tennessee-based institution. 

Siemens said the two also will collaborate on workforce development programs, with the partnership focused on supporting Vanderbilt’s clinical teams, improving operational efficiencies and developing new care models. 

“Our mission is to continually provide patients first access to the very latest advancements,” Jane Freedman MD, deputy CEO and chief health system officer for Vanderbilt Health, said in a statement July 27. “Joining with Siemens Healthineers, a world leader in healthcare equipment, will help our health system remain on the cutting-edge regarding imaging technology implementation while also offering access to their other innovations.” 

Under the agreement, Siemens Healthineers will provide Vanderbilt with advanced technology across its MRI, CT, molecular imaging, interventional radiology and radiation oncology service lines. Locations impacted by the partnership will include the University Hospital and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s at Vanderbilt. Siemens said the sides will additionally collaborate around scaling artificial intelligence in radiology, personalizing medical services and automating workflows.

Both sides also plan to bolster Vanderbilt’s technology planning, purchasing and installation, “aligning strategy with clinical and operational goals.” 

“Vanderbilt Health is known for its clinical excellence, research leadership and commitment to patient-centered care,” added John Kowal, president and head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers. “We are proud to support them with advanced imaging and radiation oncology technology, operational expertise and a framework for innovation that can help improve care delivery today and anticipate the needs of tomorrow.” 

Siemens Healthineers also previously signed a $100 million strategic agreement with NYU Langone Health in November.
