House votes to repeal IPAB, AMA cheers

The House has voted, 244-154, in favor of a bill that repeals the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), a cost-cutting panel first created as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Will Connecticut fix its budget woes on the backs of radiology patients?

AdvaMed, MDMA & MITA commend House passage of legislation to repeal the medical device tax

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) and the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA), a division of National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), today commended the House of Representatives for passing legislation to repeal the medical device excise tax. The legislation, H.R. 160 “The Protect Medical Innovation Act,” passed with a vote of 280 to 140.

Be prepared—new Joint Commission requirements effective July 1

After a long delay, the Joint Commission’s revised requirements for diagnostic imaging services go into effect on July 1, with significant dose-management implications for providers of CT. The requirements, first announced in January, apply to all accredited organizations that provide diagnostic imaging services.
