ACR spotlights military mentorship program

A robust resource is close at hand for military radiologists looking to “transfer” themselves to civilian practice after their service ends.

That would be the ACR’s Military Radiology Mentorship program, of which the college reminded social media followers Dec. 1.

The program matches mentors—experienced radiologists who made the transition themselves—with active-duty physicians planning or considering civilian radiology.

The ultimate goal is to guide the mentee with respect to both short-term and long-term career aspirations,” according to the ACR webpage dedicated to the program.

The page describes a questionnaire prospective mentee radiologists need to complete. It also contains a link to guidelines for mentors and mentees as well as ACR staff.

The college also offers discounts to U.S. military members on dues, products and CME resources.

Further, it offers opportunities to pursue ACR fellowship while serving the country.

“Service to the College through volunteer leadership positions, optional membership and service to local chapters as well as the pathway to FACR are just the beginning ways for military members to remain connected to ACR members and continue networking despite frequently moving or deploying,” the ACR states.
