ACR announces new Quality Experience Committee
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has announced that its newly formed Quality Experience Committee will focus on finding “quality, safety and patient experience priorities” to improve both patient care and health outcomes in radiology.
The Quality Experience Committee was created under the ACR’s Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care, which supports radiology’s participation in alternative payment models.
“We want to ensure that all stakeholders’ points of view, perspective and experience are further integrated into the radiologist-patient relationship, transforming current culture and leading to improved patient care and satisfaction,” James V. Rawson, MD, Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care chair, said in a prepared statement. “Quality Experience Committee members will also explore how to incorporate the needs, wants and value of our patients and communities in the development of standards and guidelines.”
C. Matthew Hawkins, MD, Emory University School of Medicine assistant professor, was named the Quality Experience Committee’s chair. Hawkins is also the medical director of the Telemedicine Division and the Vascular Anomalies Clinic at Atlanta’s Children’s Hospital.
Ashima Lall, MD, director of PET/CT imaging at Riddle Memorial Hospital, is the committee’s vice chair.
The entire statement, as well as a full list of committee members, can be found on the ACR’s website.
