New educational program from ASRT teaches technologists interventional radiology essentials

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has announced the launch of a new educational program exploring image-guided interventional radiology procedures.

The program, titled Vascular Interventional Essentials, consists of 12 online modules featuring more than 300 clinical images geared toward providing radiologic technologists with training on interventional radiology fundamentals, including equipment and instrumentation, patient care, venous access sites and interventional pharmacology.

“The value of this course is its breadth and detail,” said ASRT Director of Education Craig St. George in a press release. “Educators will find it a powerful introduction to the topic for their students, and individual learners will come away with a new appreciation of this rapidly growing specialty in the radiologic sciences. Facility managers will appreciate its capacity to jump start the training of staff technologists moving into this area.”

The series is approved for 20 continuing education credits, and radiologic technologists who complete the course will receive a certificate of recognition from the ASRT.
