Radiologist pushes for plant-based diet

A team of doctors is making an effort to get more people to eat a vegan diet as a way to avoid such health issues as obesity and diabetes.

WXXI reported that Ted Barnett, MD, a radiologist from Rochester, N.Y., is part of the group, and he said physicians should consider making the switch to a plant-based diet.

“We don't expect doctors to smoke, and doctors who do smoke have a hard time convincing their patients to stop smoking,” Barnett said, as reported by WXXI. “By the same token, it's hard for doctors who are overweight and eating a horrible diet to lose weight and eat better.”
