Radiologist sentenced to up to 7 years for child enticement
A 31-year-old radiologist from Spokane, Washington, has been sentenced to up to seven years in prison for enticing a child under the age of 16.
According to a report from the Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls Press, Chavis W. Jackson was found guilty after he was caught in a sting operation driving from Spokane to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to meet with a law enforcement officer posing as a 14-year-old girl seeking a sexual relationship.
Long text message conversations, including sexually explicit language, took place between Jackson and the undercover officer. Jackson later said he thought he was speaking with an older woman. Jackson was first arrested in August 2017 and released on a $500,000 bond.
The Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls Press notes that the judge of the case, First District Judge Richard Christensen, retained jurisdiction and said he was letting Jackson enter a rehabilitation program before being considered for possible probation.
“My hope is, I can put you on probation,” the judge told Jackson during the sentencing.
