The Radiology Business Management Association’s annual meeting kicks off today in Nashville

The Radiology Business Management Association’s annual meeting kicks off today, March 25, in Nashville, Tennessee, with its opening keynote Tuesday afternoon.

RBMA is expecting over 700 radiology business professionals in attendance at its ninth annual PaRADigm conference—launched after the consolidation of the association’s fall and spring meetings. About 65 companies are exhibiting, with the show offering an in-depth focus on the business of radiology through educational sessions, vendor exhibits and networking events.

"Year after year, [PaRADigm] brings together the brightest minds, the latest innovations, and the strongest community in the field,” RBMA President Pete Moffatt said in an announcement from the association shared Monday. “There's simply no better place to connect, learn and lead the future of radiology.”

Elle Benson—a TEDx presenter, happiness author and consultant—will give the opening keynote March 25. Founder of Nonprofit Leadership LLC, Benson will use research, humor and storytelling to help attendees foster a “happy, balanced mindset.” Elizabeth Rula, PhD, executive director of the Neiman Health Policy Institute, will close out the conference on Friday, March 28, by discussing the radiologist workforce shortage. Other keynoters will include Reed A. Omary, MD, a radiologist and physician leader seeking to promote “healthy people and a healthy planet,” along with Stephanie E. Spottswood, MD, a radiology leadership coach and “implicit bias educator.” Retired former RBMA chief Bob Still also will host a live episode of his podcast, “A Word with Bob.”

RBMA was founded in 1968 and today represents almost 2,000 professionals working on the business side of imaging. Members span diagnostic and interventional radiology, along with radiation oncology, and include physicians, practice and facility managers, marketing, billing and coding professionals, and vendors.

I’ll be in attendance this year covering the conference and would love to connect. You can reach me via email at mstempniak@innovatehealthcare.com or through LinkedIn

The ACR hopes these changes, including the addition of diagnostic performance feedback, will help reduce the number of patients with incidental nodules lost to follow-up each year.

And it can do so with almost 100% accuracy as a first reader, according to a new large-scale analysis.

The patient, who was being cared for in the ICU, was not accompanied or monitored by nursing staff during his exam, despite being sedated.
