RBMA members get face time with Congress at Hill Day lobbying event

The Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) held its inaugural Hill Day lobbying event earlier this month, leading to 20 individual meetings between RBMA members and members of Congress.

“Meeting in person with members of congress, their staffs and representatives from key Congressional committees is one of the best ways for the RBMA and its members to be heard,” Jim Hamilton, RBMA’s President-Elect, said in a prepared statement. “When you make the effort to travel to Washington, D.C., and meet with someone in government in person, you have an opportunity to make a personal connection and get more insight into a lawmaker’s perspective on an issue.”

RBMA members took this opportunity to thank legislators for the recent rollback of Multiple Procedure Payment Reductions and the two-year moratorium on implementation of U.S. Preventive Services Task Force draft recommendations on breast cancer screening.

In addition, members of Congress were asked for help with directing CMS “to issue the technical format and location on the Medicare claim forms (paper and electronic) for the Clinical Decision Support information if such guidance is not in the CY 2017 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule.”
