Sunayna Bakaya named medical director of imaging for three California hospitals

Sunayna Bakaya, MD, has been named the new medical director of imaging for three Long Beach, Calif., hospitals:  Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach, and Community Hospital Long Beach. She is a diagnostic radiologist who had previously worked at all three facilities as chief of body imaging.

“Imaging impacts all areas of medicine, and emerging innovations in molecular imaging and therapeutics is transforming patient care,” Bakaya said in a prepared statement. “It’s an honor to be part of this exceptional team supported by the most advanced technologies, techniques and treatments.”

“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Bakaya lead our world-class imaging program,” said Suzie Reinsvold, chief operating officer at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach, in the same statement. “She’s committed to delivering excellent patient experiences and high quality outcomes that are the hallmarks of our hospitals.”

In her new role, Bakaya will lead a group of more than 150 radiologists, technologists and other employees.
