Radiographer arrested for possessing, creating explicit content involving children

A radiographer is now under investigation after it was discovered that he was involved in the creation of thousands of explicit images of children.

Gordon Truong, 40, was arrested while working at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Scotland after being caught downloading images depicting the sexual abuse of minors. Police were initially alerted to Truong’s activity in February of 2025 when they received a tip that a Category C (Category A is the most serious) child abuse image had been uploaded to the internet. Tracking of that download led police to Truong, who turned over his laptop, a mobile phone and a hard drive for further investigation.

Between the three devices, more than 7,000 explicit images and videos were discovered; 44 of those fall under the Category A classification, which depicts the most graphic content. It was determined that the juveniles in the media were between the ages of 10 and 15.

An investigation revealed that not only was Truong downloading the sensitive content to his devices, but he was creating it as well. He has since pleaded guilty to possessing and taking sexually explicit photographs and videos of children in his home between October 23, 2020, and February 7 of last year.

Truong was suspended from his position as a radiographer and is now awaiting multiple hearings, including a disciplinary process with the Health and Care Professionals Tribunal Service, pertaining to the charges. Officials have said that “all sentencing options are available to the court.”
