Radiology community mourns the death of a beloved management leader

The radiology community is mourning the death of one of its beloved management leaders, David Landry.

Landry passed away unexpectedly on October 22. He was 52-years-old at the time of his passing.

A resident of Auburn, Maine, Landry was a long-time resident of the Pine Tree State. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1991, before attending Bates College where he graduated summa cum laude with degrees in economics and political science. He also earned advanced certificates from the Wharton School, the University of Chicago and Harvard Business School.

After initially starting his healthcare career in medical billing, Landry became the Chief Operating Officer of Spectrum Healthcare Partners and Spectrum Medical Management Company in 1998. In 2007, he became the company’s Chief Executive Officer—a role he held for nearly two decades. Under his leadership Spectrum became a leading healthcare organization in Maine.

Landry also had ties in the radiology community. He served on Radiology Business Management Association’s Board of Directors from August 2023 to April 2025, and was actively involved in the Radiology Patient Action Network (RPAN) as well, having served on the advisory board.

In a statement sent to Radiology Business, leaders from RBMA and RPAN described Landry as an effective leader who cared deeply about serving patients.

“Dave brought wisdom, sincerity, and a collaborative spirit to every discussion,” said Co-Executive Director of RBMA, Jessica Struve. “He was deeply respected by his peers and never hesitated to share his time and perspective to help strengthen the profession. His contributions to RBMA and to radiology at large will be remembered with immense gratitude.”

“Dave was a lion within medicine and a ceaseless champion for advancing the radiology industry for nearly 30 years,” added Kit Crancer, Chair of the RPAN Advisory Board and Past President of RBMA. “When Dave spoke, people listened. He was direct, principled, and unflinching in his pursuit of what was right for patients and for radiology. His influence improved the lives of countless people, particularly in his beloved home state of Maine. He will be deeply missed.”

Landry is survived by his parents, wife, five children and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be made in his memory to The American Heart Association or The Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
