Medic Vision Imaging Solutions' SafeCT-29 gains FDA clearance

Medic Vision Imaging Solutions has announced that it received FDA clearance for SafeCT-29, which was developed to help providers make sure all of their CT and PET/CT systems are compliant with the NEMA XR-29 “Smart Dose” standard.

The technology is fully automatic and, once installed, maintains the scanner’s workflow while analyzing dose data and alerting the user when dose is too high.

"SafeCT-29 is the only FDA-cleared third-party solution on the market,” Eyal Aharon, Medic Vision CEO, said in a prepared statement. “Healthcare facilities will now have access to an innovative and affordable third-party solution that can help achieve compliance with the ‘Smart Dose’ mandate. We eliminated the need to replace thousands of fully-operational scanners and saved the healthcare industry billions of dollars in the process."

According to Medic Vision, SafeCT-29 “can make 4-slice, 8-slice, some 16-slice CT scanners, as well as the majority of PET/CT scanners, compliant.”
