MR Theater improves patients experience during scans

Toshiba Medical is giving patient comfort a new definition with its new MR Theater, a virtual experience that allows patients to undergo the exam in a relaxing environment while providing clinicians with high quality images.

The MR Theater projects virtual reality images on a dome shaped screen inside the machine. As the patient's table moves during scanning, the images move as well, so patients can continuously watch the display and be at ease.

“Toshiba Medical’s new MR Theater helps our customers address some of the biggest challenges they face with MR imaging, claustrophobia and patient anxiey,” said Dominic Smith, senior director, CT, PET/CT and MR Business Units at Toshiba America Medical Systems, in a statement. “By putting patients at ease, clinicians can complete MR exams quickly and capture the high-quality images they need for accurate diagnosis and treatment, all while increasing patient satisfaction.”

The Toshiba Medical’s Vantage Galan 3T and Vantage Titan 1.5T/cS Edition is combined with a quiet scan technology. During exams, acoustic noise is reduced and patients are able to listen to in-ear audio while watching the continuous projections.
