A branch of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) has penned a letter defending the physicians arrested for their role in the MRI-related death of 32-year-old Rajesh Maruti Maru in Mumbai, India.
“Innocent persons should not be made scapegoats to shield the real culprits,” the letter read, as reported by The Indian Express. “People like junior doctors/residents should not be punished for the failure of management and system failure.”
In the IRIA letter, the association calls out several details about the case and says its members are concerned “over violations of protocol in the MRI unit and why the attendant was permitted to enter the MRI room without permission.”
