St. Jude Medical launches new OPTIS Mobile System in Europe and Japan
St. Jude Medical, Inc., has launched its OPTIS Mobile System in Europe and Japan, the company announced today in a press release.
The St. Paul, Minn.-based medical device company’s new diagnostic system, which combines optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fractional flow reserve (FFR) technology in one portable system, is designed for hospitals with multiple catheterization labs, said St. Jude Medical group president Eric Fain, MD.
“The OPTIS Mobile System represents the ongoing commitment of St. Jude Medical to develop products that provide physicians with more options for improved OCT and angiography co-registration guidance in their daily practice,” said Fain. “In contrast with intravascular ultrasound, OCT offers increased resolution and highly-detailed intracoronary arterial views, which can improve PCI procedures, especially in complex cases.”
OPTIS utilizes St. Jude Medical already existing FFR technology, which the company says “can improve outcomes and reduce health care costs over traditional diagnostic imaging tools.”
