UCSF profiles professor known for writing ‘most trusted ultrasound textbook of all time’

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) ran a new profile on former student and current professor emeritus Peter Callen, MD, who is perhaps best known as the author of a celebrated textbook on ultrasound.

Callen’s "Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology" is “the most trusted ultrasound textbook of all time,” according to profile, posted on the UCSF Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging website.

Callen looks back at his career and his time as a student as UCSF. Ultrasound was new when he was just starting out, he explains in the profile, and it quickly grabbed his attention. “I enjoyed the detective work of being able to look ‘inside’ a patient and make a diagnosis,” he said, as quoted in the post.
