Duke University to host 2 events focused on CTE, head trauma in football

Duke University has events scheduled on back-to-back days that will examine the issue of head trauma in football.

On Feb. 16, the documentary “Requiem for a Running Back” will be screened at the Duke’s Nasher Museum of Art, according to a report by The Herald-Sun out of Durham, North Carolina. Rebecca Carpenter, the film’s director, is the daughter of former NFL player and coach Lew Carpenter. He had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) when he passed away.

Then, on Feb. 17, three different discussions are scheduled to take place at Duke Law School that will look at head trauma in football from different angles: “The Roll of Football in the Culture and the Culture of Football,” “The Science of Head Trauma” and “Implications for Medicine, Law and Policy.”
