vRad goes to Indonesia, virtually

One of the most tech-forward healthcare providers in Indonesia has hired the largest teleradiology group in the U.S. for anytime-anywhere reads and reports.

vRad, the 350+-radiologist practice headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn., will provide preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations around the clock for referring docs and radiologists affiliated with RSU Bunda Jakarta, part of the Bundamedik Healthcare System based in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

According to a news release, RSU Bunda Jakarta’s services include robotic surgery, cardiology, neurology and a host of advanced diagnostic and screening services.

The collaboration puts vRad in the heart of the fourth most populous country and one of the fastest growing healthcare markets in the world. Indonesia, a multi-party presidential republic, is home to around 250 million people spread out across 18,000 or so islands. The government is striving to achieve 100% universal health coverage by 2019.

“This partnership allows us to provide quality radiology services using a proven and established network of highly trained diagnostic subspecialists,” said Ivan Rizal Sini, MD, chairman of Bundamedik Healthcare System, in prepared remarks. He added that the 24/7 collaboration will allow Bunda “to continue its mission of bringing Indonesian healthcare to a high international standard with lower costs to patients.”

vRad CEO Jim Burke noted that demand for high-quality healthcare services is growing throughout Southeast Asia, with Indonesia setting the pace. “Together, vRad and Bunda will provide world-class imaging services so that RSU Bunda physicians can continue to make quality healthcare decisions as demand from their patients increases,” he said.

Bundamedik Healthcare System operates 11 hospitals and clinics, along with a research center. The provider network is online at bunda.co.id
