| The Month in Review | Editor's Note: I’m not sure I have anything interesting to say about long COVID or the annual Medicare cut, so I’d like to turn your attention to Nos. 4 and 9 on the list below. Two separate studies explored additional duties radiologists must take on beyond their regular reading work: multidisciplinary conferences and tumor boards. In one analysis, Wisconsin radiologists estimated their department tallied $1.2 million in unreimbursed costs from the former, logging thousands of hours in a single year. In the other, researchers highlighted the heavy burden tumor boards place on radiologists, particularly women and those with children. I think the message from both investigations is clear: If you’re going to add tasks to my plate, you’d better compensate me and understand that your additions may be contributing to my burnout. In a challenging hiring climate, you might do well to listen. —Marty Stempniak, Editor Editor's Note: I’m not sure I have anything interesting to say about long COVID or the annual Medicare cut, so I’d like to turn your attention to Nos. 4 and 9 on the list below.
