ACR acquires searchable database of CT colonography centers
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has acquired the My CT Colonography center online locator, an online tool originally developed by Bracco Diagnostics.
The locator, available on the ACR website, allows patients to type in their zip code to find the CT colonography provider closest to them.
“We’ve heard from patient advocacy groups that they would strengthen their recommendation of CT colonography if they knew the procedure was more widely available across the United States,” Judy Yee, MD, chair of the ACR Colon Cancer Committee, said in a prepared statement. “By expanding this center locator, we’ll be able to increase awareness of the lifesaving benefits of CTC.”
“By providing this tool to our many stakeholders, the college is facilitating access to an effective, safe and less invasive screening tool for colon cancer,” Jonathan Kruskal, MD, PhD, president of the Society of Abdominal Radiology, said in the same statement.
There are more than 700 CT colonography centers in the United States, according to an estimate from the ACR. While the searchable database only includes 150 centers right now, the ACR said that its goal is for every last center to eventually be listed.
