115-year-old Virginia imaging practice joins Strategic Radiology’s growing coalition
A 115-year-old Virginia imaging practice has just joined Strategic Radiology’s growing coalition of independent physician groups.
Radiology Associates of Richmond is the 28th such practice to make the move, marking the larger group’s 20th state and first foray into Virginia. RAR has been around since 1905 and currently employs 60 radiologists, providing services to both Bon Secours Mercy Health and the Hospital Corp. of America.
Strategic Radiology is based in Palmetto, Florida, and bills itself as an alternative for practices seeking scale—by sharing data, expertise, and some expenses while remaining solo.
“Our continued success benefits from providing outstanding service to our constituents, and we look forward to collaborating with other independent radiology groups in Strategic Radiology to advance best practices,” Ray Beauchamp, MD, president of RAR, said in a statement issued Wednesday.
Radiology Associates of Richmond says it’s one of the oldest continuously operating imaging practices in the U.S., today overseeing four outpatient centers and a fifth focused on vascular care. In its announcement, Strategic Radiology also highlighted RAR’s “well-developed quality and business infrastructure,” which includes a managed services organization providing revenue cycle, IT, data warehousing, and financial services.
