Rayus Radiology CEO stepping down, plus more leadership moves
Kim Tzoumakas has stepped down from her role as CEO of Rayus Radiology just shy of four years on the job.
She’s departing from the Minnesota-headquartered radiology group—formerly known as the Center for Diagnostic Imaging—to lead Maxor National Pharmacy Services. Based in Amarillo, Texas, and founded in 1926, Maxor is a pharmacy care solutions company offering medication delivery and management services.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to succeed [the retiring] Mike Ellis and lead the organization into its next phase of growth, and I couldn't be more excited about the tremendous opportunity ahead of us,” Tzoumakas said in a statement.
She first took over the top post at Rayus Radiology in March 2021, succeeding Rick Long, who departed after six years on the job. Tzoumakas spent 16 years with healthcare-focused law firm Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman before joining Fort Meyers, Florida-based 21 Century Oncology in January 2018. There, she helped transform the once legally challenged, bankrupt cancer care company before joining Rayus three years later.
Kit Crancer, Rayus Radiology’s senior VP of public policy and partnerships, could not comment on the departure Monday. The company has not yet publicly named a successor. Private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management acquired Rayus in 2019 with an eye toward growth. It currently operates 150 freestanding imaging centers, employing over 2,000 team members and 400-plus affiliated radiologists managing 75 million images annually.
MedQuest names chief legal officer
Radiology provider MedQuest Associates on Monday named Warren Christopher “Chris” Shea as its chief legal officer overseeing compliance and risk management matters.
He’ll report to CEO Jason Howard and play a “key role” in the Alpharetta, Georgia-based organization’s growth plans. Shea joins MedQuest after 12 years with Memorial Hermann, the largest nonprofit hospital group in southeast Texas, where he served as general counsel for its health plan and deputy GC of the health system.
“Chris has extensive experience as both a guardian of the law and a catalyst for growth, with a specialty in healthcare transactions that’s a particular match for MedQuest,” Howard said in a statement. “His values align with ours, and his leadership will ensure we skillfully navigate complex issues like governance, AI, and payer pressure as we grow.”
Founded in 1996, MedQuest operates a network of over 50 imaging centers. In 2023, MQA inked a partnership with the Novant Health system and private equity firm TPG to help it expand further. The company also recently named a new chief operating officer and chief clinical and innovation officer.
MSK breast imaging leader
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York on Monday named Kimberly N. Feigin, MD, as chief of breast imaging.
She has been a member of the service for over 22 years, most recently acting as interim chief. Feigin also is head of breast imaging quality assurance and continuing medical education coordinator. She succeeds Maxine Jochelson, MD.
“I am honored to step into this role and lead this exceptionally talented group into the future,” Feigin said in a statement shared Jan. 13. “Our service is one of the largest and most highly respected of its kind worldwide.”
MSK’s Department of Radiology processes 8.3 million radiologic images per week, publishes 450 peer-reviewed articles per year, and receives an average of $45 million in grant funding annually for its research.
