Solis Mammography acquiring largest radiologist-owned practice in the Washington metropolitan area
Breast imaging giant Solis Mammography is acquiring the largest radiologist-owned practice in the Washington metropolitan area, company officials announced recently.
Around since 1975, Progressive Radiology dubs itself as the “leading” provider of outpatient imaging services in Illinois, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, with 11 locations across those four states. The acquisition will allow Solis Mammography’s Washington Radiology practice to expand its presence in the National Capital Region.
“Washington Radiology has built a reputation for being the first to market for technical innovation and clinical leadership, particularly in breast health and women’s imaging, and has a 70-year history of excellence,” Solis President and CEO Grant Davies said in a Jan. 12 announcement. “Progressive Radiology has equally contributed to the changing healthcare landscape with a robust musculoskeletal and sports imaging platform, as well as a specialized focus on neuroradiology and pediatric imaging. Together, we will remain mutually dedicated to delivering an exceptional experience to the women, men and children that we serve, while growing services across the region.”
Davies and company did not disclose terms of the deal. Combined, the two will operate 17 imaging centers in the D.C. metro area, “with additional growth on the horizon.”
Solis Mammography was first founded in 1986, partnered with Washington Radiology in 2016, and today labels itself as the “nation’s largest independent provider of breast health and diagnostic services.” The Addison, Texas-based firm opened its 70th center in 2020 and has performed more than 5 million procedures, according to its website.
