Bullet pierces mobile mammography unit during imaging exam, halting screening event
A bullet pierced a mobile mammography unit during one woman’s breast imaging exam on Monday, forcing organizers to end the public screening event early.
The incident occurred on Chicago’s South Side, with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Assured Imaging hosting a popup 3D mammogram clinic at a local shopping center. There were no injuries reported, and organizers were able to able to administer about 30 breast exams and 50 COVID vaccinations, WGN TV reported.
Organizers cut off the event ahead of its 5 p.m. end time, and Chicago police are currently seeking tips. It followed a violent weekend in the Windy City that left 13 dead and 33 wounded, the Sun-Times reported.
