Experienced radiologist named vice president, chief medical officer of Health New England

Health New England, a nonprofit health insurance carrier based out of Springfield, Mass., has announced that Laurie E. Gianturco, MD, is the company’s new vice president and chief medical officer.

Gianturco is an experienced radiologist. Before beginning work with Health New England in 2014, she was the chair of radiology at Baystate Medical Center and president of Radiology and Imaging Inc., a large private radiology practice.

She is also a member of the Massachusetts Radiological Society’s executive committee, and an associate clinical professor of radiology at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

In her new role, Gianturco will have a number of responsibilities, including case management, quality and accreditation, and healthcare informatics

"Her track record of high performance in both medicine and business make her exceptionally well qualified to oversee all aspects of the organization’s medical issues."

Health New England has over 200,000 members. The company serves residents in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
