Raleigh Radiology is seeking $1 million-plus in damages, alleging that Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. failed to renew its cyber liability insurance ahead of a ransomware attack.

The policy changes forbid insurers from saddling patients with out-of-pocket costs for services associated with lung and breast cancer.

The college believes the move will sow confusion and is asking the agency to rescind its noncoverage determination. 

“Interestingly,” experts noted, despite such decreases, average payment amounts nearly tripled year-over-year, from $581 to $1,607 in 2020.

Hospitals need to do their homework when it comes to which solution is best for them, Pure Storage's Josh Gluck told Radiology Business at the  HIMSS23 meeting.

Twenty-five state societies have voiced their support for the proposal, being presented at the 2023 ACR Annual Meeting in D.C. 

“These evidence-based updates should spur more-informed doctor-patient conversations and help providers save more lives," the document's lead author said. 

The pact comes as radiology practices fight to remain covered by the health plan of choice in their local service areas.

James McGuckin, MD, allegedly submitted more than 500 false claims for unnecessary vascular procedures between 2016 to 2019, the DOJ said.
