Join us tomorrow: How Capitol Imaging is using AI-enabled RIS, scheduling bots and smart staffing strategies to take care of more patients
AI-enabled RIS is moving from concept to clinical reality in outpatient imaging—and a Radiology Business webinar and live Q&A tomorrow (April 7) is offering a candid account of what the transition looks like from the CTOs making it happen. Together, they’ll talk through what they’ve deployed, what's working, what surprised them, and where the project is headed.

The webinar focuses on Capitol Imaging Services, a 60-location outpatient imaging group with sites across the Gulf South and Southeast. The organization has grown significantly in recent years, and like similar imaging groups, faced mounting challenges in automating core front-office functions, verifying insurance benefits and helping staff struggling to keeping up with it all.
Capitol Imaging is partnering with AbbaDox to automate workflows, parsing inbound faxes, creating pending appointments and reaching out to patients to schedule imaging exams. Central to the effort is an AI voice agent called "Abby" that operates 24/7 and handles outbound scheduling calls without human involvement and is filling more appointment slots efficiently.
As Capitol Imaging CTO Tim Haley says, “When a physician sends that order to four organizations, it’s whoever can get the patient scheduled the quickest that wins.”
There are plenty of lessons to learn as they navigate the cultural and operational friction that typically accompanies automating at this size and scale. They’ll talk about how they’ve deployed AI and established guardrails in one region, confirmed the model, then replicated.
They’ll also dig into the human dimension of AI adoption and their future vision of the patient journey—from order receipt through benefits verification, scheduling, electronic pre-registration, payment and self-check-in—that is largely automated. All along the way, they’re redirecting human attention from routine, repeatable tasks to the exceptions AI cannot yet handle.
“The goal isn’t just to make things faster,” says AbbaDox CTO Isaac Aronov. “It’s an opportunity to completely rethink what we are doing, because our space is changing rapidly.”
