INFINITT Dives Into UK PACS Market

imageINFINITT Healthcare, a global player in picture archiving and communications systems (PACS), radiology information systems (RIS), and 3D Visualization software, yesterday announced that that it has signed a three-year contract extension to provide Enterprise-wide PACS solutions for The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NUTH), one of the largest National Health Service (NHS) Trusts in the United Kingdom. The Newcastle Hospitals Trust is a large, technically complex and diverse organization spread over several sites. One such site, Freeman Hospital, has earned an international reputation as a pioneer in transplant surgery for both adults and children. The UK's first successful heart transplant for a child was performed at the hospital, and it is currently one of Europe's leading lung transplant centers. The INFINITT-Newcastle Hospitals contract encompasses digital image management and information systems for radiology and other clinical imaging departments, such as cardiology, dental, mammography, and radiation oncology, as well as advanced imaging solutions for various clinical specialties. "In the past, NUTH had experienced difficulty integrating its imaging systems," notes Sun Joo Lee, CEO of INFINITT. "During this contract extension period, INFINITT will simplify system management and operation with integrated solutions that span many clinical specialties and departments.” INFINITT has 2000 PACS installations worldwide. Its Web-based image and information management solution includes RIS, PACS, cardiology PACS, mammographic PACS, and 3D/advanced visualization software operating on a single database. Graeme Russell, of INFINITT UK, corroborates Lee’s comments, adding that “this contract extension…presents a real opportunity to deliver a truly unique imaging platform to Newcastle Hospitals." INFINITT UK was established in October of 2010 through the majority acquisition of Ferrania UK and is located in Bracknell, Berkshire, UK. It is INFINITT’s seventh global business unit; there are others in North America, Japan, China, Germany, and elsewhere. INFINITT North America is headquartered in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
