Sectra signs 2 enterprise imaging contracts totaling over $40M

Radiology vendor Sectra recently signed two new enterprise imaging contracts totaling over $40 million.

The latest deal is with four National Health Service trusts in the United Kingdom, who plan to use the Sectra One Cloud for image storage. Three are already existing Sectra customers, with all migrating to a joint storage solution as they seek to simplify IT management.

Linköping, Sweden-based Sectra estimated the contract is worth $36.6 million (USD), nearly $18.7 million of which is guaranteed.

“Migrating imaging to the cloud not only strengthens security but also makes it easier to integrate emerging technologies such as AI into clinical workflows,” Jane Rendall, managing director for Sectra U.K. and Ireland, said in a Dec. 9 announcement. “This step ensures the trusts can scale and innovate without the constraints of on‑premises infrastructure.”

Those involved hope the contract can help to facilitate collaboration across 15 hospitals. NHS Trusts involved in the deal span Lancashire and South Cumbria in the U.K., serving around 1.8 million individuals in the region. Sectra said the deal includes managed cloud services, monitoring, optimization and upgrades.

Meanwhile, Swedish healthcare provider Region Halland also inked a new contract with Sectra, announced on Dec. 4. Already a radiology and breast imaging customer, the organization is now expanding its agreement to include digital pathology. Sectra said replacing “microscopes with a digital workflow” will allow Region Halland to access images quicker, share second opinions and enhance efficiencies in cancer diagnostics.

The seven-year contract was signed in November and is worth approximately $4 million, about $2.6 million of which is guaranteed. Sectra said the pathology module is part of is larger enterprise imaging solution aimed at providing a “unified strategy for all imaging needs while lowering operational costs.”
