Sectra finalizes Oxipit acquisition

Sectra has officially finalized its acquisition of Oxipit, a company that specializes in medical imaging AI solutions.

The Sweden-based PACS provider first announced plans to acquire Oxipit in March, with both parties expressing optimism for how the merger would benefit patients and providers. Oxipit’s autonomous AI chest X-ray analysis product, ChestLink, will now be available through Sectra’s AI marketplace.

ChestLink holds the first CE Class 2B certification for autonomous AI in chest X-ray analysis. It analyzes chest radiographs and removes high-confidence normal exams from radiologist worklists, helping them focus on urgent cases. The certification requires its performance to be continuously validated to meet the highest safety thresholds.

“With the acquisition of Oxipit, we're adding a new dimension to our AI offering: autonomous AI that can genuinely reduce radiologists' workload in daily clinical practice,” Torbjörn Kronander, president and CEO of Sectra, said in a statement. "Equally important, we're acquiring the clinical validation and regulatory expertise required to deploy this category of AI responsibly at scale," he added.

Now that the deal is finalized, Sectra will manage all contracts and partnerships Oxipit had prior to the merger. The new agreement also stipulates that Oxipit’s team will work within Sectra’s Imaging IT Solutions division as a dedicated AI development center. The company is already working to create new CT and musculoskeletal solutions.
