Siemens and Dell Partner on Cloud-Based Solution

Siemens Healthcare and Dell announced this week a key partnership to deliver a cloud-based vendor-neutral image sharing solution. Going to a cloud-based platform eliminates the need to house data on site and allows for easier archiving and retrieval of images across any type of PACS system. The Siemens Image Sharing & Archiving (ISA) solution will be hosted by the Siemens HCCC data center using Dell's clinical data management software, according to a company press release. Siemens is showing the solution at the 2012 HIMSS conference in Las Vegas this week, Siemens also said it had created a new implementation approach for its existing Radiology Information System. "Imaging departments face significant cost pressures and, as a result, administration must look for ways to optimize productivity while, at the same time, lower the cost of maintaining imaging archives,” said Kurt Reiff, vice president, business management, SYNGO Americas, based on the release. The Siemens data center has been in operation for more than 40 years, now processing more than 200 million transactions per day. Dell, meanwhile, manages 68 million clinical studies and more than 4.7 billion “diagnostic imaging objects,” according to the release.
