Midwest hospital system launches $10M expansion that includes doubling of CT capacity

A Midwest hospital system is launching an ambitious $10.2 million expansion project that includes the doubling of its CT imaging capacity.

OhioHealth announced the new campaign on Wednesday, with the modifications aimed at improving operations at its Bradley Cancer Center at Berger Hospital. The Circleville, Ohio, institution currently operates the only CT scanner in Pickaway County, with the purchase of a second one set to bolster access for cancer patients, along with outpatient and emergency care.

OhioHealth said the multiphase project will span the next two years, also including the addition of 5 more infusion spaces and expanding of pharmacy services. This comes after Berger Hospital recently scored a $1.1 million donor investment that brought 3D breast imaging technology to its campus, allowing it to image over 4,500 women annually.

“From advanced mammography to expanded infusion services and imaging, every investment we make is driven by a simple belief: that our neighbors deserve world-class cancer care close to home,” hospital President Casey Liddy said in a statement Aug. 5. “We are proud of how far we have come, and we are even more excited about where we are headed.”

The cancer center provides imaging, medical oncology, infusion therapy and other supportive cancer care, allowing patients to receive treatment closer to home. Liddy and colleagues said the investment is part of a larger push to advance cancer care in central Ohio, with the hospital system also investing in a new comprehensive outpatient cancer center in Columbus. OhioHealth expects the project to create new jobs in imaging, pharma and nursing as the cancer program grows alongside its community.

“This investment is the next step in a vision we are building together, one that puts our patients first and keeps exceptional cancer care right here in Pickaway County,” Liddy added.
