Solis Mammography expands partnership with HCA Healthcare
Solis Mammography, one of the largest operators of breast imaging centers in the U.S., is expanding its partnership with HCA Healthcare across three communities.
The company announced Monday it is teaming with HCA’s Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Together, they’ll bolster screening and diagnostic breast imaging services in the Rio Grande Valley’s largest city.
Beginning July 21, the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence at Valley Regional Medical Center started operating as Solis Mammography, a department of VRMC. In addition, Solis is working with HCA’s Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. They’ll initially focused on the existing hospital mammography center—located at the southern tip of the state, near the Mexican border—with plans for further expansion across the region. Both HCA centers will utilize AI for greater accuracy and earlier cancer detection.
“Bringing together Solis Mammography’s expertise with our hospital’s longstanding commitment to care allows us to offer a more seamless and supportive experience for patients,” Laura Disque, CEO of Rio Grande Regional Hospital, a 320-bed facility with 500 physicians on staff, said in a July 21 announcement.
“Together, we will deliver an enhanced focus on breast health to the communities we serve and the peace of mind that comes from having an exceptional experience,” added Joe Hernandez, CEO of Valley Regional Medical Center, a 214-bed acute-care hospital with 200 physicians on staff.
Solis Mammography also announced the opening of its newest freestanding imaging center on Monday. The breast clinic is in the Dallas suburb of Rockwall, Texas, and is operated in partnership with Medical City Healthcare, a division of HCA. Solis said this now marks its 36th imaging center in North Texas, with the company now serving “millions of women” across over 150 communities. The company offers a “boutique-style retail healthcare experience,” using a “high-touch, patient-centric approach” that “engages women” in their care.
“Our comprehensive approach to breast health is centered around delivering an exceptional patient experience,” Grant Davies, CEO of Solis Mammography, said in another announcement. “As we further expand our footprint across our largest market, North Texas, we’re able to advance our mission of early detection and save more lives.”
Solis Mammography boasts partnerships with hospital groups including Community Health Systems, Jefferson Health, Memorial Healthcare, and HCA’s St. David’s HealthCare and TriStar Health. Last year, it touted a “groundbreaking” team-up with MountainStar, a division of HCA, to oversee the system’s breast imaging strategy across several Utah communities. HCA is the largest health system in the U.S., operating 186 hospitals and 2,400 sites of care across 20 states.
Solis Mammography, meanwhile, was founded in 1986 and in 2018 sold a majority stake to Chicago-based private equity firm Madison Dearborn Capital Partners. The company has tripled in size since, growing from 50 locations to 150, across 22 markets including Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, Greater Philadelphia, Columbus, Nashville and Miami. In December, Solis Mammography also expanded into the San Antonio, Texas, market acquiring Avestēe Women's Imaging Centers and its six locations.
