Strategic Radiology announces addition of Georgia-based Radiology Associates of Macon

Strategic Radiology announced Thursday, Aug. 23, that Macon, Georgia-based Radiology Associates of Macon has joined its coalition of private radiology practices.

Radiology Associates of Macon’s 30 radiologists and three radiation oncologists currently serve six hospitals and numerous outpatient imaging centers throughout Bibb County, Georgia.

“Radiology Associates of Macon is a strong proponent of radiologist ownership of patient care and practice decisions,” Arl Van Moore, Jr., MD, CEO and chair of Strategic Radiology, said in a prepared statement. “As leaders of quality evaluation and improvement in the health systems they serve, Radiology Associates of Macon brings the commitment to excellence shared by all Strategic Radiology member practices.”

“The acquisition of medical practices by private equity is the most disconcerting development in the 42-year history of our group,” Mark Grossnickle, MD, president of Radiology Associates of Macon, said in the same statement. “In aligning with Strategic Radiology, we restate our commitment to independent radiology by establishing connections with other, similar independent groups for the purpose of improving our practices.”
