Through the end of July, 79% of all AI products authorized by the agency in 2023 are in radiology, followed by 9% in cardiovascular care, and 5% in neurology. 

This year alone, ACR has tracked more than 100 proposed policies relating to radiologic scope-of-practice expansion, spanning 30 states.

More than three-quarters of those reached said they disagree with reducing reimbursement to rads under the 2024 fee schedule, RBMA and MITA reported Thursday. 

The preliminary award includes $134M in underpayment damages, $9M in prejudgment interest, and $2.2M in attorney fees, arbitrators confirmed.

During the past seven years, the availability of such products has continued to grow, with medical imaging accounting for 85% of digital health’s venture capital funding.

“The goal is to create a blood test that can be used in clinics to complement CT imaging assessment of lung nodules for cancer risk," UCLA radiologist Denise Aberle noted. 

Eliminating the previous “coverage with evidence development” requirement allows local MACs to dictate payment for such exams.
