Wake Radiology expands breast imaging division, adding 5 new radiologists
Wake Radiology—the oldest and largest imaging provider in North Carolina’s Research Triangle—is touting the expansion of its breast imaging division with the hiring of five new rads.
The physician-owned, Raleigh-based practice said this coincides with its new “We See the Difference” campaign, aimed at educating women about screening. Wake Radiology is looking to better engage with its community around breast cancer, including offering free mammograms for uninsured women.
In addition, the practice is partnering with retailers in October, who are offering free delicates laundry bags with the purchase of bras. Their hopes is that such items can help keep breast health and cancer awareness “top of mind year-round.” Wake Radiology also hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Oct. 19 to educate women about screening and sign them up for mammograms.
“Our breast imaging team is composed of dedicated, board-certified radiologists who bring focused expertise to every image read,” Brent Townsend, MD, president and managing partner at Wake Radiology, said in an Oct. 17 announcement. “We are proud to grow our practice with such strong medical talent, and we will continue to invest in hiring experienced radiologists to further our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care.”
New radiologists hired include Tyler Litton, MD, Laura Parra, MD, Michelle S. Collins, MD, Marie Vogel, MD, and Tammy Kreuzer, MD. Fist launched in 1953, the practice now employs over 60 radiologists working across 14 area locations. Wake Radiology said it also is sharing information about breast cancer on its social channels throughout the month of October. It’s anticipating continued growth in breast imaging, as a larger segment of the population reaches the recommended screening age of 40.
Wake Radiology previously touted the hiring of eight radiologists in September 2024 and the opening of its expanded breast health center the following month. The practice is a member of the Strategic Radiology coalition of independent imaging groups, joining in August 2024.
