Imaging provider Solis Mammography enters 10th major market with latest partnership

Breast imaging giant Solis Mammography has entered its 10th major market with a new partnership announced Wednesday.

The Addison, Texas-based radiology firm—which dubs itself as the largest independent provider of women’s diagnostic services—recently inked a deal with the Miami Breast Institute. MBI Executive Director and Co-founder Art Mesa said he sought out the deal to improve operational efficiencies, serve more patients and gain access to state-of-the-art imaging.

“They have a proven infrastructure that can help us grow across the region,” Mesa said March 10.

Miami Breast Institute first opened in 2008 under the leadership of board-certified breast imaging specialists Anamary Quiros Mesa, MD, and Elsy Carbot-Flores, MD. Following the deal, the two physicians and the rest of MBI’s clinical team will continue serving patients, according to the announcement.

Solis now operates more than 85 imaging centers, both wholly owned and via hospital joint ventures. Back in January, the company also acquired Progressive Radiology—the largest rad-owned practice in the Washington metropolitan area, and signed another deal with the University of Chicago in October 2020. Solis President and CEO Grant Davies sees opportunity in Miami.

“As we look to expand into a vibrant and competitive market, our partnership with Miami Breast Institute gives us a firm foundation to build on as we share our singular mission of advancing women’s healthcare with patients and the clinical community,” he said in a statement.
