Indian Radiological and Imaging Association works to save female fetuses

The New Delhi-based Indian Radiological and Imaging Association is taking steps to protect female fetuses from feticide. The goal is to make the male-to-female ratio in the country similar to that of the southern state Kerala, where the ratio is 1,084 females per 1,000 males.

The national ratio for India stands at 940 females for every 1,000 males.

Called Raksha, or “protection" in Hindi, the project aims “to save the female gender—the fetus, the child, the girl and the mother.” A male Indian movie star has agreed to become the spokesperson for the cause, the Times of India reported.
