North Carolina imaging group hires veteran nurse leader as CEO
A North Carolina imaging group has hired a veteran nurse leader and former professor as its new CEO.
Diagnostic Radiology & Imaging—formerly Greensboro Imaging—has selected industry veteran Frank Manole, DNP, MBA, to fill the key role, the organization announced Jan. 12. A trained nurse practitioner, he previously served as chief executive of Raleigh Radiology in the same state, with stints at Raleigh-based Avance Care and CVS Minute Clinic.
In the new role, he’ll guide Diagnostic Radiology & Imaging’s overall strategy, leadership and performance in partnership with the organization’s board of directors.
“Bringing Frank on board to lead DRI is an exciting next step in our organization’s future,” Taylor Stroud, MD, president of Greensboro Radiology, a Rad Partners affiliate that provides interpretations to DRI centers, said in a statement. “We are confident that his leadership and shared commitment to quality, exceptional patient care and support for our community will help us continue to build upon DRI’s strong legacy of premier imaging care in the Piedmont Triad region.”
DRI/Greensboro Imaging have been around for almost three decades, operating four outpatient imaging locations, and deploying over 60 radiologists and other providers serving 125,000 patients each year. The company recently rebranded as Diagnostic Radiology & Imaging as it seeks to serve the greater surrounding area beyond Greensboro. DRI has plans to open a Summerfield office for the greater Piedmont Triad area and Wakefield outpost in the Research Triangle geography, alongside a mobile mammography unit serving Guilford, Rockingham and Alamance counties.
While practicing as an NP, Manole worked for several large hospitals including WakeMed Health in Raleigh and the Atlantic Health System in Morristown, New Jersey. He also has served in adjunct and clinical professorship roles at Rutgers and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He remains active with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, recently completing a four-year term as director of its Region 4 Board of Directors.

Greensboro Radiology first partnered with Rad Partners in 2019. The group was formed in 1998 by the merger of the former Greensboro Radiology PA and Guilford Radiology Associates PA. Both practices had a long history of serving the Piedmont Triad area dating back to the 1950s. Greensboro Radiology also acquired High Point Radiological Services in 2012.
