Radiologist with colon cancer tours Tesla factory, meets Elon Musk

Radiologist Matthew Chan, MD, of Sacramento, California, was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer and is expected to live less than six months. Thanks to one of Chan’s close friends and the power of social media, Chan was able to tour a Tesla factory and meet company co-founder Elon Musk.

According to an in-depth profile from CNBC, Chan owns two Teslas and is “obsessed” with the company. When a friend of Chan’s posted on Facebook trying to reach Tesla, the right people saw his post. Chan toured the factory, met with Musk and had a long conversation with Franz von Holzhausen, Tesla’s lead designer.
