Radiologist named New Brunswick Medical Society president

The New Brunswick Medical Society announced this week that diagnostic radiologist John Whelan, MD, is its new president.

Whelan will serve the 2015-2016 term, taking over for the group’s previous president, Camille Haddad, MD.

Whelan has been practicing at Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, since 1989. He is also an associate professor of diagnostic radiology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has been with the New Brunswick Medical Society for more than 20 years.

"I'm looking forward to continuing the work of my predecessor to promote healthier lifestyles," Whelan said in a statement. "The Medical Society has already done a significant amount of work on this, but we as a province still have a long way to go to improve our health."
