Radiology Partners names new head of clinical services
Radiology Partners on Monday named a new leader to oversee clinical services.
The country’s largest imaging group, with over 4,000 radiologists on its practice's payroll, is tapping Matt Peterson to serve as president of its patient care division. Peterson joins Rad Partners from Universal Health Services Inc., a Fortune 500 provider of hospital and other healthcare offerings, where he was executive VP and president of behavioral health.
In his new role, Peterson will oversee strategy and execution across Rad Partners’ national clinical services enterprise. He’ll report to RP CEO Rich Whitney, MBA, focusing on strengthening operational performance, supporting radiologists, “deepening” clinical partnerships and advancing patient care.
“I look forward to working closely with the practice’s physicians, leaders and teammates to learn the business and help advance the next chapter of RP Clinical Services,” Peterson said in a statement July 20.
In his previous role, Peterson led strategy, operations and growth across Universal Health Services’ network of over 350 facilities in 39 states. Prior to that, he spent 12 years with UnitedHealth Group, holding leadership roles across managed care, healthcare services and technology. Peterson also served for over 30 years with the Air National Guard and U.S. Air Force, including advising medical leadership on the operation of an integrated healthcare delivery network.
Meanwhile, Rad Partners on Monday also named Krishna Nallamshetty, MD, as its new full-time chief operating officer of RP Clinical Services. The radiologist had served as interim COO since December and also will continue as interim chief medical officer while the organization searches for its permanent replacement.
Rad Partners believes his appointment represents a significant step for its clinical services wing, underscoring “the practice’s commitment to embedding physician leadership directly into operational decision-making.” Nallamshetty will report to Peterson and focus on operational execution, ensuring alignment between clinical strategy and performance. He previously served as CMO of Radiology Partners and practice president of Radiology Associates of Florida where he also oversaw operations, growth and clinical performance.
Both leadership appointments took effect on July 20. Radiology Partners said these and other management moves are designed to strengthen alignment across clinical services, technology, data and operational support. RP’s patient care division currently serves over 20 million individuals each year, the company estimated.
“This leadership structure reflects our commitment to strengthening performance, supporting our physicians and teammates, deepening our client partnerships and continuing to advance our mission to transform radiology,” CEO Whitney said in the announcement.
