RSNA adds internationally recognized neuroradiologist, nuclear physician to its board
The Radiological Society of North American announced the addition of decorated neuroradiologist Carolyn Meltzer, MD, to its board of directors on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Meltzer currently serves as professor and chair of the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. A past president of both the American Society of Neuroradiology and the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research, she’s published more than 200 papers in the field, with the RSNA recognizing her as an “Outstanding Researcher” in 2018.
"I am delighted to serve RSNA at such an exciting time in the journey that is radiology," Meltzer said in an announcement. “This is one of those periods of enormous headway, when disruptive developments such as AI/data science, theranostics, patient-centered interventions and team-based care models will guide us toward an exciting future," she added.
Meltzer has been a longtime advocate for thoughtful professional development, having mentored 70 trainees and junior faculty during her career. She’s also a champion of diversity and inclusion, serving as chair of the RSNA committee dedicated to such causes, and similar governing bodies with the American College of Radiology and the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Other honors in her career include receiving the 2016 Outstanding Contributions in Research Award 2019 gold medal from the American Society of Neuroradiology. She’ll serve as board liaison for science on the RSNA Board of Directors.
