Vance takes helm at Foundation Radiology

Richard Vance, MD, will succeed Tom Skelton as CEO of Foundation Radiology, the Pittsburgh, Pa-based radiology services company.

Vance, a pathologist and operating partner with  Foundation investor Chrysalis Ventures since 2007, told the Pittsburgh Business Times that he has been involved in IT-enabled healthcare services throughout his career.

“Both the ability to collect large amounts of data and the ability to use technology to improve communications, service and delivery represents real opportunities to improve health care,” Vance told the Times. “Foundation Radiology fits that model perfectly. We have a strategy of optimizing resources locally with radiologists at community hospitals and provide the quality of essentially an academic level of subspecialty practice that can read cases at a level of sophistication that no community hospital could afford.”

Vance told the news outlet that the company works with 30 hospitals, a number he expects to be near 40 by year end.

Former CEO Skelton left in September of last year to become CEO of Surescripts LLC, Arlington, Va.
