Siemens Healthineers to change its name following spin-off from parent company

Siemens Healthineers plans to drop the Siemens name and rebrand as Healthineers as the company prepares to become a fully independent healthcare business through a planned 2027 spin-off.

The name change represents the next step in the company’s evolution away from its parent company, Siemens AG. The transition, which would formally separate the healthcare company from Siemens, is expected to begin after the transaction is entered into the German Commercial Register, completing the spin-off and deconsolidation.

“This is the logical next step in a journey we started years ago—and one that has proven hugely successful,” Siemens AG President and CEO Roland Busch said in a statement. He said the change reflects Siemens Healthineers’ development into a global healthcare leader in its own right while allowing Siemens to sharpen its focus on scaling industrial artificial intelligence by combining physical and digital technologies.

Siemens Healthineers President and CEO Bernd Montag described the new name as a reflection of the company’s identity and future direction.

“Siemens is where we have come from and remains an important and treasured part of our heritage,” Montag said. “Healthineers is who we are–engineers and pioneers in healthcare. After the deconsolidation from Siemens, we will write the next chapters of our journey in the Healthineers name and will continue pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare for everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.“

The companies have agreed to a three-year brand transition period following their separation to support the change. The transition will include updating legal entity registrations and product names, allowing the company to move away from the Siemens brand while managing the operational requirements of the split.

This is all still subject to approval at Siemens Healthineers’ annual shareholders’ meeting. The proposed spin-off also requires shareholder approval from both companies at their annual meetings in February.

Siemens Healthineers AG also announced its quarterly earnings Thursday. Those can be found here.
